It also added graph tables for modeling relationships, Python alongside R in Machine Learning Services, interleaved execution for multi-statement table-valued functions, and new T-SQL functions such as STRING_AGG, TRIM and CONCAT_WS.
Mainstream support ended on October 11, 2022, and extended support, which still delivers security updates, runs until October 12, 2027. SQL Server 2017 supports Windows Server 2012 through Windows Server 2022, and Windows 8 through Windows 11. It is a sound pick for a vendor app certified on 2017, or for a Linux-based database server. New installations that must stay patched past 2027 should look at SQL Server 2019 or later.
